Zip-lining in Guatemala

Guatemala is known for producing some of the finest coffees in the world. If you are a coffee connoisseur, Finca Filadelfia Coffee Plantation in Antigua is a place you must visit, however that is not what this article is about. On July 19th, Central Church from Collierville, Tennessee visited the plantation but not for it’s coffee; they took a zip-line tour through the mountains and brought Casa Josue along with them! Miss Evy, Logan, and Glendy were also invited to come along for the adventure. This was a first time experience for the boys, and for some of the team members as well. Soaring over the trees and valleys between the mountains, we were all reminded not only of how beautiful the land is in Guatemala, but how truly magnificent our God is for designing and creating the landscape we saw. Before returning to Agua Viva, everyone had lunch at Pollo Compero and ice cream at the mall! We all returned tired and full, but very happy.

New Generation of Worship

Dscn2977

Tiny but mighty would describe the new band that has begun to lead worship on Sunday mornings.  When you see Jennifer Melissa, a solid 3 foot something, with her bass guitar strapped on and singing into the microphone it is something very special.  Other children who are playing in the band are Luisa on keyboards and Yoli on drums.  The singers are Brenda, Lea, Cristina and Rosalinda.  Ms Alma the Christian Education leader is on guitar.  Let’s continue to pray that all the children in Agua Viva would seek out and use the gifts and talents that God has given them all for His Glory.

Education through Sports

Agua Viva School has begun an inter-mural basketball tournament.  They have arranged their teams by grade from the littlest to the oldest to compete in this tournament. They are learning communication skills, teamwork, and getting lots of exercise too.  Even the teachers have a Men’s and a Women’s team that play against the older students.  The games take place inside the gym, and outside on the open basketball court during recess a couple of days a week.  Organizing all of the games is Ms. Cle the physical education teacher along with help from some of the other teachers to referee the games.
