Anna Macleod is a visual artist based in Dublin and Leitrim, Ireland. In her work she employs a variety of methods, strategies and processes to mediate complex ideas associated with contemporary, historical and cultural readings of land use and resources. Her practice is situated in a geo political discourse where her role of ‘citizen artist’ is at the core of a relationship with a broad spectrum of publics and audiences. Recent projects have focused on the socio and political issues surrounding water, looking at local and global resonances of access, management, control and consumption of this finite substance. She is interested in indigenous practices and knowledge of water as the universal commons of humanity. Anna Macleod lectures in the Fine Art department at the Dublin Institute of Technology.
