ivon oates bio ivon oates’s multi-disciplinary work combines new technologies- sound and video - with fine arts and architectural/landscape design. Educated with MA fine arts (Surrey Arts & Design); MA fine arts and PGdip, London Institute (Byam Shaw and St Martins school of Art); and T3 architecture (SA); she had over twenty years experience in architecture, interior and landscape design then specialised in fine arts - painting and new media. Recently her work has included both sound and video in architectural contexts. Her sense of the vastness of imaginative space is influenced by her upbringing in Africa where she was managing director of Integral Design Associates and co-founded an institute for multi-racial arts. She enjoys collaborating to explore the non-hierarchical creative dynamic between the personal and the wider context, including outside traditions of Western art.
